DOROTHY PERKINS FOR JABONG AT THE LAKME FASHION WEEK SUMMER-RESORT 2014
This is what made my day! An exclusive sneak preview of the International label Dorothy Perkins SS14 organized by Jabong.com at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai during the fittings of Lakme Fashion Week !!!
It was a complete treat for fashion bloggers like myself. Had a great session back stage…and backstage is always so much more fun ;)… with Aki Narula, one of the best Indian fashion designers and stylist and Lubna Adams, India’s top most fashion choreographer. Aki Narula styled models in Dorothy Perkins and interacted with us while also giving us his special style tips while the fittings were on.
Dorothy Perkins this season has come up with beautiful icy pastels, sorbet hued laces, tapestry florals and tropical prints. The line uses smart separates and even smarter co-ordinates which is a huge trend internationally. There were also chic accessories and a range of shoes that are great for taking the look from day to night. For the next-gen, 1980’s rocker-style bleached jeans along with an array of playful bikinis and maillot swimsuits are perfect for a holiday in the sun. By the way, Dorothy Perkins produces original prints and designs that are exclusive to their brand.
I particularly liked this very sexy burnt silver dress…also Aki’s favourite…where Aki very smartly styled it with chic thong footwear…instead of the usual stilettos. The thong flats gave the dress a completely new dimension and purpose. Super like !

The fittings were followed by a delicious lunch where Pearl (head styling team at Jabong and has styled the Jabong Stage stage 1 for Jabong) introduced us to their very impressive creative team at Jabong and told us about how Jabong is planning to expand.
Jabong has got some great and very exciting expansion plans and I personally believe they are doing a great job by bringing into India international brands like Dorothy Perkins which is not only trendy but is very suitable to the Indian woman’s body type and very well priced too. I have been told that all the Dorothy Perkins pieces are priced upto INR3000 max. (barring a few pieces which will be priced more) which is damn good news. There is even better news to come….The Dorothy Perkins pieces will be available between size 6 to 22. There is a serious dearth of fashion brands that cater to bigger sized women, who have the money to buy but no where to go to…and and a size range of 6-22 means that Jabong with Dorothy Perkins is going to very smartly cater to this niche crowd too. And on personal front, I’m super excited as I will be able to pick up Dorothy Perkins clothes from Jabong for my personal clients too for their styling, the bigger sized women in particular for whom I’m always struggling to pick up the right sizes.
