STYLE YOURSELF RIGHT FOR INFORMAL EAT OUTS WITH OFFICE COLLEAGUES
Informal lunches and dinners with work colleagues/bosses can be a great opportunity to bring in that fun element to your otherwise formal and dull clothes. Dressing up for such occasions is about working around conventions. Conventional clothes in brighter colors and more fitted avatars with a dash of interesting accessories !
So here is the deal…
If you are going for an informal lunch with colleagues straight from office, your best bet is to carry a well-fitted casual blazer or jacket and if possible a brighter colored top with you to your office that you can change into when stepping out for lunch. Casual summer blazers and printed ones help greatly in prepping up the outfit. Topshop, Zara, Mango are worth checking out for casual blazers and jackets. Add a bold accessory, not very statementish but something that gives your outfit a personal touch. I believe, such occasions besides discussing business are also a time to get to know each other outside your usual formal setting.
Alternatively, for an informal dinner, you can wear something in a darker color and prep it up with an embroidered jacket/blazer or a nice, fun scarf and you can also add a bit of bling through accessories. Here, the bling factor has to be taken in very cautiously and discreetly.
For women who wear Indian casuals like kurtis and leggings with dupatta, you can make them more fun by teaming a long narrow printed scarf instead of the dupatta. You can also make it interesting by wearing a solid colored kurti or a long tunic and teaming it with leggings with interesting floral prints that are also quite ‘in’. Fab India, Cotton Cottage and Anokhi are great stores for good quality kurtis in solids as well as prints.
Very important : Keep away from skimpy and transparent clothes (for obvious reasons), extremely bright/neon colors, bold prints and chunky accessories.
The catch is to take classic elements that you conventionally wear to work and add something more informal and contemporary to them. Keep it classy, keep it fun and have a great lunch 🙂
